こんにちは、ちか先生です。

Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a homework correction from my JLPT Course. This one’s for beginners! Can you spot the mistake in the student’s sentence?

[Student’s sentence]

このバスを乗って、京都駅まで行きます。

*このバスをのって、きょうとえきまでいきます。
kono basu o notte, Kyouto eki made ikimasu.

[My correction]

このバス乗って、京都駅まで行きます。
→ このバス乗って、京都駅まで行きます。

kono basu ni notte, Kyouto eki made ikimasu.

I will take this bus to Kyoto Station.

乗る (ni noru): The correct particle here is . This particle is used to indicate what you are getting on or entering, such as a bus, taxi, airplane, train, or boat.

You always use 〜乗る when talking about boarding these forms of transportation.

For example:

電車乗る (Densha ni noru)

Board the train

タクシー乗る (Takushii ni noru)

Get in the taxi

乗る (Fune ni noru)

Get on the boat

飛行機乗る (Hikouki ni noru)

自転車乗る (Jitensha ni noru)

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
