[JLPT grammar] Is どれ used for two or more things while どちら is used for only two things?

Today I am going to share the Q&A quoted from my JLPT N5 course!

[Student’s Question]

Sensei,
is どれ used for two or more things while どちら is used for only two things?
Then what about どっち?

[My Reply]

Yes, you are right.

どれ is used when pointing out three or more things.
どちら is used when pointing out two things.
どっち is used when casually pointing out two things.

e.g.
Which of the fruits do you like best?

(formal)
(normal)
Which would you like, bread or rice?

どちら is also used as a polite expression of どこ.

(formal)
(normal)
Where is Suzuki-sensei?

どちら has two meanings.

I hope my answer helps you.😊

In the JLPT course, you can ask me any questions as much as you want.
I will teach you until you get it!
