My teacher lent me a book.
(Lit; I asked my teacher to lend me a book.)

貸して(lend)＋もらう(I receive the action, I ask someone to do)
＝借りる borrow

先生に本を貸してもらいました。
(I asked my teacher to lend me a book)
＝先生に本を借りました。
I borrowed a book from my teacher.

借りて(borrow) ＋もらう(I receive the action, I ask someone to do)
＝貸す lend

先生に本を借りてもらいました。
(I asked my teacher to borrow me a book.)
＝先生に本を貸しました。
I lent a book to my teacher.
