[Answer]
あの人は、まるで本当の家族(3 である)かのように、私に優しかった。
That person was kind to me as if they were truly part of my family.
〜かのように means that something seems as if it were true, even though it is not actually so.
In this sentence, even though the person is not actually family, they treated the speaker as if they were.
When using 〜かのように after a noun, the structure is:
noun + である + かのように
In this sentence, 「家族」 is a noun. Therefore, it must be followed by 「である」 before 「かのように」.
*「noun + かのように」 is also grammatically possible, but there is no answer choice that fits this pattern.
