こんにちは、ちか先生です。

Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a practice from my exclusive course.

This one’s for beginners (JLPT N5).

Can you choose the correct answer?

[Practice Question]

このケーキ、おいしい(   )食べてください。

*このケーキ、おいしい(   )たべてください。

1 から

2 だから

3 けど

4 だけど

[Answer]

このケーキ、おいしい(1 から)食べてください。

This cake is delicious, so please try it.

Why does the speaker say “食べてください”?

Because the cake is おいしい (delicious)!

So we need a word that means “because.”

→ That’s から!

〜から

because / since

It shows the reason.

Other choices are incorrect:

けど / だけど

= “but”

These show contrast.

But this sentence has no contrast, so they don’t work.

And one more point:

おいしい is an i-adjective

With i-adjectives, we can directly add から:

i-adjから

おいしいから

×おいしいだから

We use だ before から when the word is a noun or a na-adjective:

e.g.

しずか(na-adj)だから

休み(noun)だから

So the correct answer is:

1. から.

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
