Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a practice question for JLPT prep.

This one’s for intermediate learners (JLPT N3)!

Can you choose the correct answer?

[Practice Question]

[Answer]

She is healthy and rarely gets sick, but it seems she caught the flu.

= “rarely / hardly ever”

It shows that something happens with very low frequency.

Structure:

In this sentence:

She usually doesn’t get sick

So めったに fits perfectly.

Other choices:

✖ 1. 決して

= “never” (very strong). Too strong for “getting sick.”

✖ 2. きっと

= “surely / definitely.” Expresses the speaker’s certainty; usually used in affirmative sentences.

= “even a little.” About amount, not frequency.

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
