こんにちは、ちか先生です。

Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a practice question for JLPT prep.

This one’s for beginners (JLPT N5)!

Can you choose the correct answer?

[Practice Question]

<レストランで>

A:デザート、食(た)べる?

B:ううん、(__)。もうおなかいっぱい。

1 ない

2 しない

3 いない

4 いらない

[Answer]

<レストランで>

A:デザート、食べる?

B:ううん、(4 いらない)。もうおなかいっぱい。

<At a restaurant>

A: Do you want dessert?

B: No, thanks. I’m already full.

いらない

“I don’t need it” / “No, thanks” (for things)

It is the negative form of いる (to need).

In this conversation:

A offers dessert.

B refuses because B is full.

So いらない is a natural way to say “No, thanks.”

✖ Other Choices:

1 ない

→  “There isn’t” or “I don’t have.”

2 しない

→  “I don’t do it.”

3 いない

→ This means “is not here” (for people or animals).

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
