This one’s for pre-advanced learners (JLPT N2)!
Can you choose the correct answer?
[Practice Question]
数学は考え方が大切であり、答えが出ればいい（＿＿）。
*すうがくはかんがえかたがたいせつであり、こたえがでればいい（＿＿）。
1 に相違ない
2 というものだ
3 にこしたことはない
4 というものではない

数学は考え方が大切であり、答えが出ればいい（4 というものではない）。
In math, the way you think is important; it’s not enough to just get the answer.
〜というものではない
= “It’s not enough to just ~.” / “~ is not everything.”
In this sentence:
答えが出ればいい (Getting the answer) is not enough.
→ 考え方が大切(The way you think is also important).
So we use:
答えが出ればいい + というものではない
= It’s not enough to just get the answer.
✖︎Other Choices:
に相違ない
= “must be ~” / “no doubt that ~”
というものだ
= “That’s what ~ is” / “That’s how it is”
にこしたことはない
= “It’s best to ~” / “Nothing beats ~”
