I’m not sure how I found Chika Sensei, but I am so happy I did! Her speaking course was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been a self-learning of Japanese for a looooooong time and it can be challenging to find new ways to “level up”. I am constantly trying to fill in the gaps of my learning so I have a strong foundation of N5-N3 grammar/vocab/etc. The N3-N2 Speaking Course has brought me that much closer.

When I went back to Japan in 2019, I found I could understand what people were saying to me, but the time it took for me to form a sentence in my head and then say it was a little embarrassing. I was also a little traumatized from a schoolmate said “oh, you forgot everything since you returned home?” My goal shifted to improving my speaking ability, especially since I had another trip planned for Japan this past September.

The course helped me to identify what I needed to practice on, measured by how smoothly I was able to repeat the sentence or not. I learned new vocabulary and experienced the different styles of speaking (keigo vs. casual). The way the course is set up was clean, simple and easy to follow. I greatly appreciated Chika-sensei’s and my LINE correspondences. It makes a big difference having someone comment directly on your work. Since this was such a great experience, I do plan on enrolling in more of Chika sensei’s classes.
