Is there any difference between まま and ぱなし?
Can you provide me some examples to understand the difference?

[My Reply]

 

〜まま indicates to keep that condition and do the next action.

母と手をつないだまま、歩きます。
My mom and I walk hand in hand.

〜っぱなし indicates that the following action is expected but it remains　unperformed. Often used in negative evaluations.

テレビをつけっぱなしで、寝てしまいました。
I left the TV on and fell asleep.
=I regret that I did not turn off the TV.

You can also say,
テレビをつけたまま、寝てしまいました。

With まま, regret and bad feeling are not included.
You just described this condition.
