Today, I’m sharing a practice from my exclusive course. This one’s for Pre-Advanced learners (JLPT N2)! Can you answer correctly?

A typhoon came, and I heard it rained heavily in Kyushu yesterday.

 

 

[Explanation]

 

〜とか (hearsay)

Here, 〜とか is used to share information you’ve heard but aren’t completely sure about.
It’s similar to 〜そうだ for reporting hearsay, but 〜とか sounds less certain.
It gives the impression that you overheard it or casually picked up the information.

 

In this sentence, the speaker wants to say “I heard (but I’m not sure) it rained heavily in Kyushu yesterday.”

So, とか fits perfectly here.

 

The other options (のは, とを, のを) cannot be used at the end of a sentence. This further confirms that とか is the correct choice.
