Today, I’m sharing a practice question for JLPT prep.
This one’s for intermediate learners (JLPT N3)!
Can you choose the correct answer?

有名なレストランの料理を食べたが、おいしくなくて（＿＿）した。
*ゆうめいなレストランのりょうりをたべたが、おいしくなくて（＿＿）した。
1 ぴったり
2 にっこり
3 めっきり
4 がっかり

有名なレストランの料理を食べたが、おいしくなくて（4 がっかり）した。
I ate food at a famous restaurant, but it wasn’t tasty, so I was disappointed.
がっかりする
= to be disappointed / to feel let down
In this sentence:
有名なレストラン
→ you expect it to be good
おいしくなくて
→ the result is bad
so… がっかりした
→ “I was disappointed.”
That’s why がっかり is the correct answer.
✖ Other Choices:
1 ぴったり
= a perfect fit / exactly right
2 にっこり
= with a smile / happily
3 めっきり
= noticeably / dramatically (for changes)
