Today, I’m sharing a practice question for JLPT prep.
This one’s for pre-advanced learners (JLPT N2)!
Can you choose the correct answer?
[Practice Question]
私は言いたいことを全部言わないと気が（＿＿）性格だ。

私は言いたいことを全部言わないと気が（2 すまない）性格だ。
I’m the type of person who can’t feel satisfied unless I say everything I want to say.
「気がすまない」is an idiom (慣用句 かんようく).
= “can’t feel satisfied” / “can’t rest easy”
It means you feel unsettled until you do something.
In this sentence:
The person feels they must say everything.
If they don’t, they won’t feel at peace.
So, (気が)すまない is the perfect fit!

These are not natural set phrases in Japanese.
Only 「気がすまない」is used as a common idiom.
