“Can 二人で be replaced with いっしょに?”

こんにちは!ちか先生(せんせい)です。
Konnichiwa! It’s Chika sensei.

Today I share my reply to a student’s question in the JLPT All-in-One course.
Students can ask questions in the comments section for all lessons.

JLPT N4
How to use a particle “で”

[A student’s comment]

Sensei what’s the meaning of 母と二人で行きます ? Can 二人で be replaced with いっしょに?

And what’s the difference between ので and から I’m still confused

[Chika Sensei’s reply]

〜で
「母と二人で行きます。」
This で express “Amount”.
で can be placed after any word which indicates quantity.

11人サッカーをします。
みんなごはんを食べます。
1000円おかしを買います。

いっしょに、二人で
母といっしょに(together)行きます。
=No information about how many we are.

母と二人で(two of us)行きます。
=Exact number is important for some reason.

If you understand what this means, you can replace it.

〜から/ので
Simply put, ので sounds more polite than から.
So use ので when you want to speak politely.

If explained in depth, から sentence is only making one’s point.
So it sounds a little selfish.
ので sentence objectively explains the situation and seeks understanding.
