[JLPT grammar] 来月、国に帰るかな→Who’s going back?

Today I am going to share the homework correction quoted from my JLPT N4 course!
The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?

 

[Student’s sentence]

来月、国に帰るかな。

*らいげつ、くににかえるかな。

 



 

[My correction]

来月、国に帰るかな。
→来月、国に帰ろうかな。
I think I’ll go back to my country next month.

JP;
帰ろう(volitional-form)かな
=私(わたし)は帰りたいけど、帰るかまだ決(き)めていない。
volitional-form+かな:自分のしたいことで、するかどうかまだ決めていない

帰る(dictionary-form)かな
=誰(だれ)かが帰るかもしれない
dictionary-form+かな:推量(すいりょう)

自分(じぶん)がするかしないか考(かんが)えるときは、volitional-formを使(つか)ってください。

 

EN;
帰ろう(volitional-form)かな
=I want to go home, but not sure yet.
volitional-form+かな:The speaker wants to do that, but am not sure if he should yet.

帰る(dictionary-form)かな
=Someone might go home.
dictionary-form+かな:When the speaker wonders about something.

When you express what you are going to do or your desire to do something, use [volitional-form] with かな.
