The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?

[Student’s sentence]

私はおしゃれっぽい服が好きです。

*わたしはおしゃれっぽいふくがすきです。

[My correction]

私はおしゃれっぽい服が好きです。
→私はおしゃれな服が好きです。
I like fashionable/stylish clothes.

〜っぽい is limited in the words it can be used for, and it cannot be used for anything.

〜っぽい indicates inference from the five senses.
Whether something is おしゃれ(fashionable) or not is not something to be inferred but judged by its appearance, so 〜っぽい is not used with おしゃれ.

×このシャツはおしゃれっぽい。
◎このシャツはおしゃれだ。
This shirt is fashionable.

You can say;
◎このシャツは黒(くろ black)っぽい。
This shirt is blackish.

In this sentence, the speaker cannot clearly determine by looking whether this color is black, dark blue, or gray, but guesses that the closest color would be black.
