[Error Correction] あげる means “to give someone (not me)”

Today, I am going to share a homework correction from my JLPT Course!
The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?
メモしたいので、紙をあげてください。
*メモしたいので、かみをあげてください。

メモしたいので、紙をあげてください。
→メモしたいので、紙をください。
I would like to take notes, so please give me a piece of paper.
[noun]をください: please give me a [noun].
あげる means “to give someone (not me),” but in this context, since you want to receive the paper, [noun]をください is more appropriate.
e.g.
本(ほん)をください。
Please give me the book.
ペンをください。
Please give me a pen.
少(すこ)し時間(じかん)をください。
Please give me a little time.
