Today, I am going to share a homework correction from my JLPT Course!
The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?
[Student’s sentence]
動物園でパンダがいます。
*どうぶつえんでパンダがいます
doubutsuen de panda ga imasu.

[My correction]
動物園でパンダがいます。
→動物園にパンダがいます。
doubutsuen ni panda ga imasu.
There is a panda in the zoo.
[place]に+[existence verb] [place]で+[action verb]
います (to exist) is used with the particle に to indicate the place of existence. Therefore, “に” should be used instead of “で(marks place of action).”
Whenever you want to say something or someone exists at a location, use the particle に.
e.g.
駅(えき)に猫(ねこ)がいます。
eki ni neko ga imasu.
There is a cat at the station.
学校(がっこう)に友達(ともだち)がいます。
gakkou ni tomodachi ga imasu.
I have friends at school.
公園(こうえん)にすべり台(だい)があります。
kouen ni suberidai ga imasu.
There is a slide in the park.
I hope my explanation helps you.😊
