[Grammar Point]

〜ば〜ほど

= “The more ~, the more ~”​

 

In this sentence, we want to express that the more you look at the kitten, the cuter it seems.

To do this, we use 〜ば〜ほど.

 

(V conditional-form)ば(dictionary-form)ほど

The “ば” form is the conditional form of the verb: 見れば.
The “ほど” follows the dictionary form of the verb: 見る.

Only “見る” (dictionary form) fits the grammar pattern.
