Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a practice from my exclusive course.

This one’s for beginners (JLPT N5).

Can you choose the correct answer?

[Practice Question]

シャツを(__)ください。

1 はいて
2 はいって
3 あらって
4 あって

[Answer]

シャツを(3 あらって)ください。

Please wash the shirt.

あらって is the te-form of あらう (to wash).

When we say Vてください, it means “please do (verb).”

So, あらってください = Please wash.

Let’s look at the other choices:

はいて(te-form)

→ はく(dictionary-form)

= to wear shoes or pants (lower-body clothing).

はいって(te-form)

→ はいる (dictionary-form)

= to enter.

あって(te-form)

→ あう(dictionary-form)

= to meet.

→ ある(dictionary-form)

= to exist.

So, the correct answer is 「あらって

— the only one that works naturally with シャツ.

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
