The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?

その本はどこでも売っていません。

*そのほんはどこでもうっていません。

[My correction]

その本はどこでも売っていません。
→その本はどこにも売っていません。
The book is not sold anywhere.

 

どこでも is used in an affirmative sentence.
どこにも is used in a negative sentence.

 

e.g.
A：どこでごはんを食(た)べましょうか。
B：どこでもいいですよ。
A: Where shall we have dinner?
B: Anywhere is fine.

 

A：結婚指輪(けっこんゆびわ)は見(み)つかりましたか。
B：いいえ、どこにもないんです。
A: Have you found a wedding ring?
B: No, I can’t find it anywhere.

 

◎どこでもドア
Anywhere Door
＝どこでも行けるドア
You can go anywhere with this door
*Anywhere Door: A convenient gadget from the anime ‘Doraemon’

× どこにもドア＝どこにも行けないドア
This door doesn’t go anywhere
