The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?

日本で勉強するために、ビザを受けました。

*にほんでべんきょうするために、びざをうけました。

日本で勉強するために、ビザを受けました。
→日本で勉強するために、ビザをとりました。
I got a visa to study in Japan.

Use とる(取る) to mean “to get (a license/qualification etc.)” or “to obtain” something.

e.g.
運転免許(うんてんめんきょ)を取る
get a driver’s license
予約(よやく)を取る
make an appointment

The meaning of 受ける is “accept”, the essential idea of 受ける is “to receive something coming toward you with a determined attitude”.

e.g.
授業(じゅぎょう)を受ける
take a class
手術(しゅじゅつ)を受ける
have a surgery
