This one’s for intermediate learners (JLPT N3).
Can you choose the correct answer?
[Practice Question]
旅行なんて今は無理です。(＿＿)、お金を貯めてからです。
*りょこうなんて いまは むりです。(＿＿)、おかねを ためてからです。

3 行ったら
4 行くとしたら

旅行なんて今は無理です。(4 行くとしたら)、お金を貯めてからです。
Traveling is impossible right now. I’d only go after saving up money.
〜としたら
= If (hypothetically)… / If it were to happen…
Used when you talk about something that’s unlikely or not true right now.
So, 行くとしたら means:
“If I go (though I probably won’t right now)…”
Other Choices:
行くと
= every time you go
行けば
= if I go
行ったら
= when/if I go
These are all conditional forms.
But they talk about what happens after going.
Only 〜としたら talks about something you do before going (like saving money).
That’s why it’s the best choice.
