Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a practice question for JLPT prep.

This one’s for upper beginners (JLPT N4)!

Can you choose the correct answer?

[Practice Question]

[Answer]

It’s deep there, so let’s swim here.

The key word here is:

In this sentence:

The speaker says,

“Don’t swim over there (そこ), let’s swim here (こちら).”

Why?

Because “over there” is dangerous!

ふかい means “deep.”

In the sea or a river, if your feet cannot touch the bottom, it is ふかい.

=dangerous.

So, ふかい is the best choice.

Other Choices:

1 かたい (hard)

3 うすい (thin / weak taste)

4 ほそい (thin / slender)

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
