[JLPT grammar] When is it correct to use 「する」?

Today I am going to share the Q&A quoted from my JLPT N3 course!

[Question]

Sensei,
when is it correct to use 「する」?
Can I say 遊ぶする?

[My Reply]

We can use する with “kanji-only” noun.
Most of these are 2-kanji compound words (come from Chinese).
e.g.
結婚(けっこん)、勉強(べんきょう)、電話(でんわ)、掃除(そうじ) etc.

勉強 is a noun for “study” and when you add する (to do), as in 勉強する, you can piece them together as “to do a study” meaning “to study.”

遊(あそ)ぶ is a verb, so you can’t add する after that.

I hope my answer helps you. 😊

In the JLPT course, you can ask me any questions as much as you want.
I will teach you until you get it!
