[JLPT grammar] Is そうですね only for agreement?

Today I am going to share the Q&A quoted from my JLPT N5 course!

[Student’s Question]

In this scenario, can you also say そうですね in response? Or is that only for agreement?

[My Reply]

そうですね is used for agreement.

It is hot today, right?
Yes, it is(=I agree).

It sounds weird to use そうですね in your sentences because it would mean that B agrees with A’s question.
Are you a student?
Yes, I agree.
Yes, I am.

Use そうですね when you are asked to agree or when you agree with their opinion.

I hope my answer helps you.😊

In the JLPT course, you can ask me any questions as much as you want.
I will teach you until you get it!
