[Answer]
南の国だから暑いだろうと思っていたが、行ってみたら(4 わりと)すずしかった。
I thought it would be hot because it’s a southern country, but when I went, it was fairly cool.
わりと
= relatively / fairly / (surprisingly)
わりと is used when something is different from what you expected.
In this sentence:
I expected it to be hot.
=暑いだろう
→But the real weather was cooler than expected.
=わりとすずしかった
So わりと fits perfectly here.
✖ Other Choices:
1. そっと
= quietly / gently
2. もっと
= more / even more (needs “increase”)
3. わざと
= on purpose / intentionally
I hope this explanation helps! 😊
