My language learning journey began a few years after visiting Japan for the first time. Ever since my childhood in America, I had been exposed to anime and manga, whether on TV or comic book shops, but it wasn’t till later in my life that I actually found an interest in actually learning Japanese. Coming from a primarily monolingual background of speaking only English, I found Japanese to be frustrating and contrary to my way of English-thinking at times. I was fortunate to have been able to move to Japan a few years ago and attend a full-time Japanese language school, which helped immensely with the basics and becoming more comfortable in the language. However, for my style of language acquisition, it only got me so far when it came to speaking and listening. I was recommended Chika Sensei by a friend, and having already watched countless other online teachers, Chika Sensei was by far one of the best when it came to explanations and clarity. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking both the N2 and Intermediate Speaking courses with Chika Sensei. They have been a great supplement to my current studies, and have taken me farther in a shorter amount of time than I ever expected.
