Konnichiwa, it’s Chika Sensei.

Today, I’m sharing a practice question for JLPT prep.

This one’s for upper beginners (JLPT N4)!

Can you choose the correct answer?

[Practice Question]

[Answer]

I’ll put the leftover salad in the fridge.ˆ

Let’s think:

What kind of salad are we putting in the fridge?

→ The salad that is left over after eating.

This is,

= leftover salad.

のこる

= to remain / to be left over

= Leftover salad (Salad that remained)

That is why のこった is the correct answer.

✖ Other choices:

たりた

“was enough”

→”Enough salad” sounds unnatural here.

すてた

“threw away”

→If you threw it away, you wouldn’t put it in the fridge!

うつした

“moved/copied”

→It does not fit the context well.

I hope this explanation helps! 😊
