自分(じぶん)が努力(どりょく effort)できるものにはpotential-form、自分が努力できないことにはnormal masu-formを使います。

potential-form＋ように
=私が努力しなければならない

医者になれます(potential-form)ように。
=（私がたくさん勉強してがんばって）医者になりたい。

normal masu-form＋ように
=私ががんばることじゃないから、自然(しぜん)にそうなればいいなあ

医者になります(normal masu-form)ように。
=（私の子どもが）医者になるといいなあ。

You use the potential-form for things you can work on to make happen and the normal masu-form for things you can’t.

potential-form＋ように
=I’ll make the effort.

医者になれます(potential-form)ように。
I hope to study hard and become a doctor.

normal masu-form＋ように
=It’s not something I’m trying to do. I just expect it to happen naturally.

医者になります(normal masu-form)ように。
e.g. I wish for my child to become a doctor.
