[JLPT grammar] Using たら for Realizations and Discoveries

Today I am going to share the homework correction quoted from my JLPT course!
The student’s sentence is not correct. Can you find the mistake?

[Student’s sentence]

[My correction]

I had a headache after drinking alcohol.

たら is used to indicate the action that led to the discovery when the speaker discovered, realized, or learned something new.  However, the ば does not have that usage.

In this sentence, you should use たら, not ば, because you noticed that “I got a headache when I drank alcohol”. When used as a written word, と may be used instead of たら.

(spoken language)
(written language)
(not appropriate)

I hope my explanation helps you. 😊
