I think this material would also be excellent for translators and interpreters who need to know cultural references that most people don’t know. – Francoise Leon|Canada and France [Advanced/N1 Course]

What I really enjoy about the course. Is learning about every day Japanese culture and history without rehashing the old stuff you always find in traditional Japanese textbooks like cherry blossoms or tea ceremony.  Chika sensei will talk about these but from a fresh angle.

I also like that we are exposed to different styles of Japanese from formal to informal and also she takes great care in reformulating our stiff, dictionary aided Japanese and making it natural sounding .

The only thing I don’t agree with is that it takes 10 minutes for each reading. There are so many excellent exercises in each lesson that if you wanted to do them thoroughly it would take hours. Perhaps I am a very slow student. Anyways I suppose you can do the minimum, read the text and make a comment in about half an hour.
